If you're a fan of art, May 2023 is the month to mark on your calendar! August Muse is hosting a combined art show featuring two rising local artists, Mason Van Horn and Megan Ree Taylor. The show will be open all month, but the opening night on Saturday, May 6th from 4-7pm is the perfect opportunity to meet the artists, explore their works and enjoy some light snacks.
Mason Van Horn
Mason Van Horn is an inspiring music teacher and a talented artist. His art collection is inspired by his coming-of-age story and turning 30. “I realized I spent much of my 20's uncertain of myself - perpetually asking if I was making the right steps or would I lose my footing. I am hopeful that in my 30's, I will be more bold, trusting the wisdom I have gleaned along the way.”
Through his work, he hopes to encourage and inspire viewers to be more bold and confident in their own lives. Van Horn's passion for realism and absurdist art styles is evident in his work, and he finds joy in the humor that art can evoke.
Megan Ree Taylor
Megan Ree Taylor is a self-taught painter and trained vocalist. For her, painting is a place to bask in silence and reflect on the beauty of the world. Her work explores still life and whimsical pastoral scenes, and she creates original oils and miniatures. Her mini paintings are sweetly framed and perfect for any gallery wall or farmhouse shelf.
Megan finds joy in creating art and can't wait to share her creativity, love and joy with you.
The front and back entrance of 518 E Elk Ave will be open on May 6th, 2023 from 4-7 pm for the opening night of the art show. You can explore the works of both artists and have the chance to meet them. Their art will be on display in store the remainder of May, so you can come back and appreciate their works anytime you want.
